English

This study aimed to conduct a sociological analysis of employment and unemployment processes in the social entrepreneurship ecosystem of Khuzestan. Through Grounded Theory and 27 in-depth interviews, 12 main categories were extracted via multi-stage coding, ultimately establishing “Developing Employability within the Social Entrepreneurship Ecosystem” as the core category. The findings indicate that “two-level innovation” and “sustainable support” serves as causal conditions, while attention to “livelihood structures” and “indigenous capacities” act as contextual conditions, both playing fundamental roles in strengthening employability. Conversely, “the lack of social entrepreneurship knowledge formation” and “structural and environmental barriers” emerged as significant intervening conditions. Furthermore, strategies such as “reflexivity in cultural interactions”, “training and employability enhancement” and “business process design” were identified as effective approaches to strengthening this ecosystem. The primary contribution of this research is the conceptualization of social entrepreneurship as a social construct. It is shaped within the interplay of contextual factors, strategies, processes, and the consequences of employability development, and is intrinsically linked to meanings, cultural symbols, and social institutions. Accordingly, the theoretical schema of the study was developed based on the paradigm model and validated by experts and participants.
