The SRT has been constituted out of the efforts of the American Commission on Media Liberty. The theory has a meta-legal concept and focuses on the role of organizations in building a better society. Nowadays, the media are essential elements of the society. They harmonize the interactions between other institutions and, as a responsible and partly making responsible institution, improve the social growth. Besides, media by means of indirect controls institutionalize an accountability model. This model opens the door for making demands from social institutions. This article examines the various theories on the social responsibility especially pro & cons in this regard. The theory argues that the media have to be a pulpit for interpretation and critique and represent an image of variety of social groups.
