English

Political culture, as one of the most important determinants of social development, plays a crucial role in shaping social behavior and mitigating or intensifying cultural harms. Khuzestan Province, due to its ethnic and cultural diversity as well as its unique social conditions, faces numerous challenges in this regard. Therefore, the present study aimed to provide a sociological explanation of the relationship between political culture and cultural harms in Khuzestan Province. This research is applied in terms of purpose and employs a mixed-methods (qualitative-quantitative) design. In the qualitative phase, data were collected through 15 semi-structured interviews with academic and executive experts using purposive sampling until theoretical saturation was achieved. The qualitative data were analyzed through open, axial, and selective coding based on Strauss and Corbin's Grounded Theory approach. In the quantitative phase, the extracted model was validated using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with SmartPLS 4 software, and the model fit indices confirmed the adequacy of the proposed model. The findings revealed that good governance, social trust, social justice, political socialization, social capital, media, social participation, the role of elites, and cultural management are among the most influential factors affecting political culture and the reduction of cultural harms. The results also indicated that enhancing transparency, institutional accountability, civic education, social participation, and public trust can play a significant role in reducing cultural harms and strengthening participatory political culture. In addition to enriching the theoretical literature, the proposed model provides a practical framework for policymakers and cultural managers in planning and managing cultural issues in Khuzestan Province.
