The research adopted a mixed qualitative–quantitative design. First, qualitative content analysis was conducted on 132 accredited journals in the fields of social sciences and philosophy, from which 25 relevant articles on Farabi’s political and ethical thought were selected. Using Strauss’s coding process (open, axial, selective), 113 initial concepts, 25 subcategories, and ultimately three main CSR categories were identified.
In the second stage, the extracted components were validated, weighted, and screened using the Fuzzy–Delphi technique with input from 18 academic and professional experts. All components exceeded the acceptance threshold and were confirmed.
Analysis of Farabi’s texts and related literature revealed that corporate social responsibility in his perspective consists of three overarching dimensions:
Religious-based Responsibilities: (justice, ethical conduct, human-centeredness, spiritual growth, equality, minority rights, moral virtues).
Society-based Responsibilities: (individual and social security, civic education, public opinion, women’s status, pursuit of communal well-being, political order, personal responsibility).
Fuzzy–Delphi results confirmed the high relevance, coherence, and validity of all components. The final model demonstrates that Farabi’s ethical, cultural, and societal principles form a cohesive CSR framework aligned with the ideals of the Virtuous City.
The study concludes that Farabi’s philosophy provides a holistic, value-oriented foundation for CSR—one that integrates ethical principles, cultural cohesion, and societal well-being. The proposed model offers an indigenous, culturally grounded CSR framework suitable for Islamic societies. Integrating Farabi’s model with contemporary CSR structures can enhance the social accountability of corporations and contribute to realizing the moral and communal ideals envisioned in Farabi’s Virtuous City.
