English

Moral values shape environmental beliefs and behavior in profound ways. This research examines the values of Yasujian citizens. It looks at how these values relate to their environmental responsibility. For this purpose, we used previous studies and theories. These include Weber, Inglehart, Kollmuss, Agyeman, and Douglas's cultural theory. We used them to analyze data from a sample of 323 people who were selected by an electronic sampling method. We measured the questionnaire's validity by face and its reliability using Cronbach's alpha. The results state a direct link between religious, traditional, and modern values and environmental responsibility. But, there was no link between fatalistic values and environmental responsibility. Two religious and traditional values were strongly linked to recycling. But, in the modern values, responsible behaviors had the highest score. The research found that religious teachings and rational action aimed at the goal (preserving the environment as a material resource) have an important role in the environmental responsibility of the citizens of Yasujı. If there are conditions for supporting environmentally responsible behaviors, including creating a platform to facilitate these behaviors and women's participation, strengthening communication and building trust between people and non-governmental organizations such as religious and traditional institutions, the Yasujian citizens will have more desire, possibility, and ability to act in such behaviors.
