چکیده English

This study, framed within the positivist paradigm and employing a deductive strategy with a quantitative approach, examines the social status (focusing on four key variables: social participation, rule adherence, social trust, and satisfaction) among citizens aged 18 and above in Ahvaz, Iran. The statistical population consisted of residents from eight urban districts, with a multi-stage cluster sampling method used to select 3,400 participants based on Cochran’s formula. Data were collected via a researcher-designed questionnaire, which included components such as practical participation, participatory attitudes, rule adherence, social trust, and satisfaction. The data were analyzed using SPSS software, along with one-way ANOVA and independent t-tests.The findings revealed significant differences (p<0.001) in levels of social participation, participatory attitudes, rule adherence, social trust, and satisfaction across different districts.District 6 hadthehighest practicalparticipation score (23.96). District3 ranked zhighest in participatoryattitudes (18.00), ruleadherence (29.29), social trust (24.56), and satisfaction (30.68). Men, individuals over 50, married individuals, those with higher education, and the Lur ethnic group showed the highest means in participatory attitudes. The Persian ethnic group scored highest in rule adherence and satisfaction. This study provides a comprehensive overview of social participation across Ahvaz’s neighborhoods and can serve as a foundation for social planning aimed at strengthening social capital and promoting sustainable urban development.
