Abstract
This study examines intergenerational changes in family values and their related social factors among women in Gachsaran city. Recent decades have witnessed significant economic, social, and cultural transformations that have profoundly impacted familial roles and values. In Iran, these changes are particularly evident due to modernization processes, increased education levels, and women’s employment. The primary goal of this research is to analyze intergenerational differences in family values among women and to investigate the social, economic, and cultural factors that influence these changes. This survey-based research employed a standardized questionnaire to collect data from 600 women in Gachsaran, selected through a cluster sampling method. Data were analyzed using multivariate statistical methods. The results indicate that younger generations are more inclined toward modern values such as individualism, independence in decision-making, and reduced adherence to traditional familial norms. Key influencing factors include education level, employment. Additionally, the roles of ethnicity were significant in preserving certain traditional values among older generations. The study highlights substantial shifts in family values across generations, driven by diverse social and cultural factors. These changes underscore the need to revisit social and cultural policies, particularly in education and the media, to strike a balance between traditional and modern values.
