Abstract

The participation and presence of the people of Bushehr Province, especially in Bushehr City, in political and social activities, signify their awareness and commitment to democratic processes. The aim of this article is to examine the extent and factors affecting public participation in elections and political-social activities. Bushehr City, with its rich cultural background and unique geographical position, provides a suitable environment for the formation of political awareness among its citizens. Participation in elections reflects the people’s interest in determining their destiny, influenced by factors such as satisfaction with representatives’ performance, electoral programs, and socio-economic status. Additionally, political awareness and public communication play a significant role in enhancing participation. Public meetings and electoral gatherings provide an opportunity to express opinions and demands, which helps strengthen the spirit of participation in the community. This research is conducted through a survey method. The study population consists of the residents of Bushehr City, which, according to the Statistical Yearbook of 1403 (the latest published yearbook), amounts to 485,398 individuals. Based on the results obtained from this research at a 5% significance level and with 95% confidence, socio-economic status and social satisfaction account for approximately 66% of the changes in the dependent variable (election participation). Ultimately, enhancing the participation of the people of Bushehr in political activities requires attention to their needs and desires, as well as the establishment of necessary conditions for free and fair elections. This can significantly contribute to the social and political growth of the province.
