Abstract
Today, social apathy is considered not only a social harm but also a factor that weakens the health of society. This concept refers to a situation in which individuals are indifferent to the issues and problems of their community for various reasons. According to studies conducted in this field, signs of social apathy can be observed in the lack of support for citizens' rights, non-participation in civic affairs, disregard for the needs and problems of others, and ignoring one's role in bringing about social change. This research aims to study the theoretical and empirical factors related to social apathy among citizens in the city of Kashan. The study employs a social survey method, and its empirical data were collected using a researcher-designed questionnaire. The statistical population includes all citizens aged 18 to 64 in Kashan, from which a sample size of 331 individuals was selected. The findings indicate that the average level of social apathy in Kashan is lower than the theoretical average. Furthermore, there is a significant relationship between the variables of "social trust", "social vitality", "social alienation", "individualism", and "cost-benefit analysis" with "social apathy." The results of the structural model assessment also show that the effect size of the variable "social vitality" is moderate, while other variables have a low effect size, and the predictive power of the model is estimated to be at a moderate level.
