Depression is considered a mental cold due to its prevalence and extent in society. This prevalence and extent of depression has made it a systemic feature of society. Given the systemic nature of depression, it is necessary to consider society and its characteristics in the field of social relations to explain depression. The levels and layers of social relationships through which individuals in society are absorbed and integrated in the form of communities are among the characteristics of society that are examined in relation to depression in this study. The premise of this study states that a relationship disorder has arisen between the levels of social relationships in communities that connect individuals to society, and therefore this relationship disorder has made individuals susceptible to depression. The aim of this study is to investigate this supposed relationship disorder and its relationship with depression. The statistical population of the study is employees of the education departments of Mashhad, which was surveyed using the Cochran formula with a sample size of 384 people using the survey method. The study findings show that among the levels of social relationships in which communities are formed, there is a significant negative relationship between non-territorial communities and strong relationships with depression. Therefore, based on the findings of this study, it is concluded that people who are involved in non-territorial communities and in communities resulting from strong relationships are less likely to suffer from depression, and conversely, the less people are involved in these two communities, the more likely they are to suffer from depression.
