Sociological investigation of the relationship between the perception of administrative corruption and institutional trust among the citizens of Ahvaz city

Abstract

This research was conducted with the aim of investigating the factors affecting the relationship between the perception of administrative corruption and institutional trust in the society. The research method is of a mixed type (qualitative-quantitative) which uses grounded theory in the qualitative part and surveys in the quantitative part. To collect data from the statistical community in the qualitative part, university professors and experts in the fields of sociology and public administration in Hawaz, who were among the executive and scientific officials related to the subject. Using the purposeful sampling method, 15 people were selected as a statistical sample in the interview section, and in the quantitative section, the citizens of Ahvaz city, with a simple random sampling method, 394 people were selected as the sample population for distributing the questionnaire. The validity of the interviews was used in the qualitative part with the opinion of experts, and for the reliability of the within-subject method and two coders, and in the quantitative part of the questionnaires, the Cronbach's alpha method was used, and for the relationships between the variables, confirmatory factor analysis was used in Lisrel software. The results showed that there is a significant relationship between the perception of administrative corruption and institutional trust in the society. As the perception of corruption in all its components increases and expands, it causes a decrease in the level of institutional trust in the society.
