Abstract

The aim of this study was to investigate the social status of women in terms of social identity (a case study of working women of different ethnicities in Ahvaz). This research was conducted by survey method and in order to improve the validity of the questionnaire measures of face validity and reliability by using Cronbach's alpha coefficient which was higher than 0.70 for all variables. The data collection tool was a researcher-made questionnaire. The statistical population of this study includes all women of different ethnicities, including "Persians", "Arabs", "Bakhtiari" and a small population of "Turks" and "Kurds" living in Ahvaz. 1397 were working, is to select the sample size among the population of the statistical community used the general formula Cochran. Thus, according to Cochran's formula, 572 people were obtained as the sample size. Mead theory was used in the theoretical framework. Findings showed that there is a significant relationship between the independent variables of personal identity, group identity, family identity, religious identity and national identity with the dependent variable of women's social status.
