Identification of Substrates and Factors Affecting the Tendency to Unauthorized Shootings in Ahvaz

Abstract

During the recent years, unauthorized shootings in most of provinces of the country particularly in Khouzestan province has significantly increased. This has led to many disastrous events including death of many of citizens. The purpose of this study was to identify influencing grounds and factors on one of the most important challenges of Ahvaz city that is unauthorized shootings. The statistical population of the research included residential population of the city among whom 380 people were chosen randomly. The collected data were analyzed based on variance analysis and linear regression models using Structural Equation Models in Amos and SPSS software packages. The results of the analysis indicated that the severity of criminal penalties (formal control) has a significant effect on unauthorized shooting phenomenon. On the other hand, according to the results of this study, the effect of ethnicity on the tendency to unauthorized shooting in Ahvaz was confirmed. In addition, the effect of the legislative variable as well as the mental state of individuals on the tendency of individuals to illegal shootings was rejected and according to the data obtained from the analysis of the research sample, the two mentioned hypotheses were not supported.
